Full Moon Party 8th of October 2014 Koh Phangan, Thailand.
October’s Full Moon Party was quite modest, in comparison with summer months. The rainy season has an effect. The average age of party people was noticeable older. Backpackers have departed, to university at Harvard and Oxford, giving way to the most hardened travelers – who aren’t scared of the tropical rain or off-season.
For me, Full Moon Party atmosphere is always a kind of organized madness. Despite the small number of people, the October festival was no exception. Rows of buckets, crazy fire shows, funny guys in crazy paint and outfits, dancing on all possible and impossible surfaces. And polite Thai policemen helping the most ‘fun’ party goers.
The sky was hiding behind the clouds this night. A pity, because everyone was waiting for a unique astronomical event – The Red Moon rising. The weather pleased us with lack of rain, and most importantly – the music pumped out all night long.
Full Moon ended with its most spiritual part – The Dawn. This is the moment when scruffy and tired party survivors sit on the sand, and watch as the new day is born. Someone falls asleep here on the beach, arm in arm with a bucket, someone continues to dance. Buckets sellers gently fold a dormant guy in the special sleeping zone… and Haad Rin goes quiet, until the next night.
